Faculty Awards
Alfred Noble Robinson Faculty Award
Alfred R. Glancy, Lehigh class of 1903 and distinguished Lehigh Trustee known as “The General,” set up the Alfred Noble Robinson Award to be awarded annually to a faculty member. Previous winners of this award have shown extraordinary enthusiasm for Lehigh’s goals and priorities, often working beyond their direct area/unit on University-wide projects or committees.
Eligibility:
There is no age restriction on this award; however, nominees must be below the rank of associate professor or its equivalent. Only current, full-time faculty are permitted to submit nominations for this award. Only current, full-time faculty members are eligible to receive nominations for this award (retired/emeriti faculty are not eligible). Faculty are not eligible to win any given University Award in two consecutive years, in addition to eligibility restrictions that apply for certain awards.

Carl & Ingeborg Beidleman Research Award in Business & Economics
This award is given to highlight quality research and refereed scholarship in business and applied economic disciplines at Lehigh; reward those involved in distinguished research, and place research on an equal level with teaching and University service in the annual recognition of faculty achievements. The recipient will be selected on the basis of one or more of the following: a) A major research accomplishment in the last five years; b) Development of a significant research program or activity; c) Extended demonstration of research or scholarly competence over many years; d) Bringing significant recognition to Lehigh University and the College of Business and Economics based on research and scholarly achievement.

Awarded to a member of the teaching staff for distinguished teaching performed during the academic year.

Global Engagement and Internationalization
The LU Award for Global Engagement and Internationalization honors faculty who have made exemplary contributions to the internationalization of Lehigh University, while advancing the university’s mission of excellent teaching, research and service. We invite self-nominations as well as nominations of colleagues.
Eligibility:
The award will consider outstanding contributions from those who:1) Deepen the Lehigh community’s understanding of major global challenges, through their teaching, scholarship or service;2) Conduct cutting-edge research in collaboration with international partners, or research which has significant global reach and impact;3) Contribute to impactful global learning experiences for Lehigh students;4) Enrich cultural exchange on the Lehigh campus, through contributions to international programming, or with international students and visitors; and/or5) Advance the university’s reputation globally, promoting Lehigh University abroad, building connections with international partners, and deepening global recognition of Lehigh’s scholarship.

Hillman Award for Excellence in Graduate Advising
This award recognizes excellence in teaching, research or advancing the interests of Lehigh University. In that context, this award recognizes exemplary student advising defined as either: a) Guiding students through their exploration and pursuit of an academic course of study; or b) Assisting students in the development and/or completion of research related to their degree program. Traditionally the University reserves this award for those who have distinguished themselves through long-term excellence or service to the institution.
Eligibility:
Only current graduate students are permitted to nominate individuals for this award. Only current, full-time faculty members are eligible to receive nominations for this award (retired/emeriti faculty are not eligible). Faculty and staff are not eligible to win any given University Award in two consecutive years, in addition to eligibility restrictions that apply for certain awards.

Hillman Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Advising

Hillman Faculty Award

Inclusive Excellence Faculty Award
Recognizes and honors a faculty member for outstanding contributions to research, administration, practice, advocacy and/or policy, and whose work informs and advances the understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence at Lehigh University.
Eligibility:
The nominee is required to be a current full-time faculty member at Lehigh University (retired faculty are not eligible and no one is eligible to receive this award more than once.). Nominations will be screened by the Council for Equity and Community.

Lehigh Early Career Award for Distinguished Teaching
Lehigh University sponsors this award to be given to a member or members of the teaching staff for distinguished teaching performed during the academic year. This award was previously supported by the Lindback Foundation and was known as the Junior Lindback Award. This award will be made to an early-career faculty member (assistant professor, teaching assistant professor or instructor).
Eligibility:
No one is eligible to receive this award more than once. Only current, full-time faculty are permitted to submit nominations for this award. Nomination Form--Lehigh Early Career Award for Distinguished Teaching
Libsch Early Career Research Award
This award is presented to: a) Highlight faculty members who are early in their research career (typically 5-10 years since the Ph.D. and at the rank of tenure-track assistant or associate professor). b) Reward those who have demonstrated the potential for high-quality research and scholarship done at Lehigh University. c) Place research and scholarship on an equal footing with teaching and university service in the annual awarding of recognition. The recipient(s), who must have held a position at Lehigh University for at least 2 years, will be selected on the basis of one or a combination of the following: a) Demonstration of the potential for nationally recognized scholarly excellence (e.g. significant national-level funding, invitations to speak at prestigious universities and conferences); b) High level of research of as evidenced by prolific scholarly output (e.g. books, papers, reviews, performances); c) Initiation of a potentially significant field of research.

Libsch Research Award
The objectives of this award are to: a) Recognize excellence in research, scholarship and/or artistic achievement, including the overall impact, as well as the quality and quantity of scholarly contributions; b) Reward those who perform distinguished research; c) Place research and scholarship on an equal footing with teaching and university service in the annual awarding of recognition. The recipient(s), who must typically have completed at least ten years as a tenure-track faculty at a college, university or in an equivalent position at another type of institution, will be selected on the basis of one or a combination of the following: a) Extended demonstration of nationally/internationally recognized scholarly excellence; b) Bringing significant recognition to Lehigh (national/international fellowships, academy Memberships, reviews and/or high profile publicity in national/international media); c) A major research accomplishment in the last five years (scientific or technological Breakthrough, widely acclaimed book(s), publication or artistic production(s).
Eligibility:
The recipient(s), who must typically have completed at least ten years as a tenure-track faculty at a college, university or in an equivalent position at another type of institution. Only current, full-time faculty are permitted to submit nominations for this award. Only current, full-time faculty members are eligible (retired/emeriti faculty are not eligible). Perry A. Zirkel Award for Distinguished Teaching in Education
Recognizes a current, full-time faculty member in the College of Education. The recipient must: Have a national or international reputation as a respected scholar, Be respected by students and colleagues for rigor in teaching, and Be recognized within the college of having non-inflationary grading standards
Eligibility:
The selection of the award winner will be determined by a faculty committee appointed by the Dean of the College of Education. Faculty are not eligible to win any given University Award in two consecutive years, in addition to eligibility restrictions that apply for certain awards. The appointed faculty committee will select the winner.

Provost's Award for Undergraduate Academic Advising (for Faculty)
The Provost’s Award for Undergraduate Academic Advising recognizes a Lehigh faculty member for demonstrated excellence in and extraordinary contributions to undergraduate academic advising.
Eligibility:
Lehigh undergraduate academic advisors are eligible for nomination by a faculty, staff, or student. To be eligible for the faculty award, an academic advisor must be a current faculty member who has served full-time at Lehigh University for at least one year at the time of the nomination. For this award, an academic advisor is defined as a faculty member who formally serves as a student’s assigned undergraduate advisor (or College of Business faculty mentor).

$1,000 and a grant of $1,500 to support the faculty advisor’s professional development

Stabler Award for Excellence in Teaching
Awarded to a member of the faculty who comes closest to the following standards: a) Mastery of his or her field and superior ability in communicating it to others; b) An exceptional talent for encouraging students to want to understand alternatives and to make choices; c) Knows how to extract from students the full measure of their potential to learn; d) Guides their thoughts in a spirit of free inquiry and learns from them as he or she teaches; e) Never rests from being a teacher and is so infectious in his or her manner that the students scarcely know how deeply he or she is teaching; f) Impresses on his or her students that they have only begun to learn while at Lehigh and that their real quest for knowledge and application of what they are taught will come after graduation; g) Ultimate goal is not only to lead his or her students to excellence in their chosen field, but also to excellence as human beings and as leaders of society.

Nomination Form--Stabler Award for Excellence in Teaching
Educational Innovation Award
The Educational Innovation Award will be presented to a faculty member for work that develops and/or uses innovative educational approaches to improve learning and outcomes for undergraduate or graduate students. The award is designed to recognize innovation in any part of the educational process, including innovation in pedagogical approach, curricular design, instructional implementation, use of technology or methods to engage and motivate students. Innovation in the assessment of student learning also may be recognized, if the assessment approach is used to enhance student learning. Preference will be given to innovative approaches that are evidence-based, student-centric, sustainable and scalable. Nominations may come from students, faculty or staff. Self-nominations are acceptable and encouraged.
